Just back from another Xmas Island trip, surely the Bonefish capitol of the world.
8 of us travelled from FNQ, Coffs Harbour, Sydney & Christchurch to a little coral atoll in the middle of the pacific to target the speedsters we know as Bonefish.

Everyone had a great trip, there were lots of Bones caught and great fishing had by all.
As far as flats sight fishing goes it sure is a magic place, the guides are very good and very professional something we all expect but not always encounter. A few other species popped their heads up during the week, plenty of little Trevally and a few Monsters lurking the edges. But we flew a long way to catch these crazy, addictive little fish so that’s were we stayed. Enough big fish showed up during the week to realise a shot at a huge Bonefish was a possibility. The best landed for the week was approx 7-8lb.
A big thanks to everyone for sharing a great week, one that nobody will forget in a hurry.

A quick update on what’s been happening at Hinchinbrook & Cape York.
Bill & Sue were back for another Hinchinbrook visit, Bill is planning to come back in September for some light tackle Marlin fishing, he must have plenty of frequent flyer points coming all the way from the east coast of the USA. We had some good sessions at Hinchinbrook with a sample of all the species on offer and managed some reasonable weather for the trip, the last day it rained a little but it was a good day on the fishing from so you kind of forget those little showers when you’re catching fish.

How’s this for friendship early in the month Roger & Rob came up from Sydney for a week we got one little shower come through one day, not enough to put a coat on for. Roger held the umberella, Rob snuck in a few casts and got another Barra bringing his total to 17 for the day.

A couple of weeks at Cape York held some good sessions, Barramundi fishing was a bit quite but the pelagics played the game the first week, the second was a different story, flyfishing in strong winds didn’t help but we found some fishable waters and had a great time doing it, the north always has option even when mother nature has a bad day. My camera was out of action with a flat battery the first week until I got my charger sent in, I’m sure the guys will email me some pics & I’ll get them posted.

Hinchinbrook for a couple of days flyfishing, then off to Xmas Island for some R&R.
