The weather & fishing have continued to be reliable, Ats & Kosei returned to fish Hinchinbrook for their 3rd time and will return again next year. The boys love the challenge of lure fishing and being away from the busy life of Tokyo.

The guys wanted to target a range of species & caught everything from GT’s, Jacks, Cod, Barramundi & Queenfish. All barbless hooks & release all their fish.

I had Morrie out today poling the flats in search of Permit, at first the weather was a little unkind with overcast conditions but he managed a couple of different Trevally species.

Then as you can see it came through for us and he got into a few more GT’s up to about 7lbs.
The permit failed to show and the tide got a little high for the flats so we moved in to the creeks and caught him his first Barramundi an fly, a hand full of smallish Barra & we called it a day. Only new to flyfishing Morrie had a great day with 5 new species.

November is one of our prime months at Hinchinbrook, the weather is usually reliable and water temperatures at the optimum. I’ve just finished a 4 day trip with a Japanese Pro Bass angler, Kazuki Kodama, he brought along with him a Japanese fishing journalist to cover his trip & to help test some of his sponsors lures on Barramundi.

MegaBass lures are one of his major sponsors for the Japanese & USA tournament series.

The Barramundi season is closed from November to the 1st of Febuary, so we released most of the fish while still in the water and only held a few out for photographs. We also had Simon Goldsmith along for a couple of days to cover the guys trip for Australian publications.
Kazuki & his camera man, Now, are very accomplished casters and fishermen and managed a huge number of Barramundi for their trip, somewhere around the 120 for 4 days. Plus a scattering of other species including Giant Trevally, Estuary Cod, Mangrove Jack & Flathead.

October is a very popular time of year to fish Northern Queensland. The temperature is good and the fish are on the move with water temperatures on the rise. Between Cape York trips and Hinchinbrook there has been no rest for the crew.

Barramundi are the usual target and find it hard to resist a well placed lure or fly.

Shane travelled from Perth on his annual Hinchinbrook adventure bringing along Alex to share the punishment. The guys encountered some strange conditions but with a bit of Barra fishing experience up their sleeves they talked some sleepy fish into eating their lure. The best day we boated around 16 Barramundi. The last day we put the boys to a new test GT popper fishing with a few hits and misses the guys landed a couple of Giant Trevally each and a couple of Mackeral for which travelled home to Perth.
