August
The weather has held nicely for this month, winter has stayed with us longer than normal, still not under about 16 degrees C but that is winter for FNQ. The sun’s been out strong and the fishing is warming up.
Tim & Peter spent 5 days at Hinchinbrook and had good variety of species and great time, the boys are good anglers and fished lure & fly to land some nice fish.

The Hinchinbrook Flyfishing Challenge went very well with a dozen teams entered and some great fish caught. My team mate Nat Bromhead & myself won the flats section of the competion.
Nat accepting the Champion Flats angler trophy.
A trip to Xmas Island was a good break from work, spending a holiday fishing may seem strange to some when my work is guiding but most anglers would understand. We had a great trip with good friends and good fishing.

My First Bonefish, not a big one but fun all the same.
Back into work I had Micah & Dave out looking for Billfish on fly, we released two over a couple of days, one Black Marlin & one Sailfish, breaking the hook on another Sail.
Micah will be writing the trip up for one of the fly mags. A canoe trip and a day on the Barra in between finished off a successful trip to the Hinchinbrook area.
Just finished 4 days at Hinchinbrook chasing Barra & Jacks mostly we had great weather and 3 out of the 4 days were very successful, the 4th a little slow for reasons only the fish can explain, we still managed a couple of Barramundi & a few other fish for the day, just not up to the standard of the rest of the trip or month for that matter.
